Traveling Abroad With A Long Layover

When traveling abroad with a long layover you can always do two things!

You can either experience two countries for the price of one or you can enjoy a luxury lounge at the airport.

Depending on how long my layover and my current mood always determines my choice, lol.

Now if I have a 15 hour plus layover I’m always going to pick the first choice 😂. So depending what time I land during my layover and what time my flight is the next day I will get a cheap hotel or Airbnb for one night. So I will book a day tour or make me a day itinerary to go sight seeing, eat and maybe something that night to do just to experience the city briefly. And head right back on out to my next destination the next day.

For me personally the rule I set for myself is that my layover has to be 10 hours plus for me to leave during my layover. And I have to land in that country before 5pm or 6 pm. Because if you’re landing late at night you’re not going to be able to experience the city for real like you want.

So if I have a layover abroad in a country less than 10 hours then I will pay to go to one of the airport lounges which comes with food, drinks, wine, wifi and some come with a shower as well. That way I can freshen up, eat, get drunk lol, do work and watch movies and tv on my phone or computer.

Some lounges are 24 hours that way you can stay in them in case your layover is late at night or overnight. Which is much cheaper than getting a hotel.

Some lounges you can actually purchase online and a lot of foreign lounges prices tend to be cheaper when purchased online versus their walk in price. Whatever airport you are heading to google their airport lounges you can pay and it will let you know all of their details regarding pricing, location, hours etc.
