Language Barrier In Asia

Besides the heat and the mosquitoes I would say the language barrier was one of the most difficult and frustrating thing I had to deal with while in Asia.

It was so over whelming to the point I had a break down in the middle of the mall because I was stranded. I was in China and I couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi because you had to have a Chinese number and I wasn’t getting any service to request a car. Nobody at the mall spoke English, I literally thought I was going to be stuck at the mall!

On top of that when trying to get directions somewhere because you might be lost or if you just got a question. I know people say use the google translator but if you don’t have service it’s literally useless. And sometimes the google translation doesn’t work. So you have to be able to keep going when you’re under pressure or you’re stressed. It’s not for the weak I tell you that, now I’m not telling you all this to deter you from traveling. More so just preparing you for what might happen so you can be prepared.

Even though this has happened to that still doesn’t stop me from all the other Asia countries or other countries which English is the native language. What I did learn is to get a driver’s contact information so that way you can always contact him on WhatsApp to schedule your pick up’s and drop off ahead of time or you can pay somebody to be with you all day. Which most of the time is easier and not that expensive.
